Why Choose Us

The terms, stated plainly

A lot of debt relief pitches lean on promises about savings or timelines. We can't make those, and we won't. What we can tell you is exactly how the program itself works, so you can decide with real information instead of a script.

GETTING STARTED IS AS EASY AS 1-2-3

A short call, a review, a decision. In that order.

First you call, or leave a number and a counselor calls you back. Second, they go through what you owe with you, line by line, and explain what a plan would look like for your specific balances. Third, you decide. Nothing is signed until you're ready, and there's no credit check to have any part of that conversation.

Enroll in as little as 1 hour, handling details by phone and online. The paperwork is signed electronically, so nothing has to be mailed or dropped off in person, and home ownership isn't required to take any of these steps.

No long term contracts

The program runs month to month. You can step away from it at any point, for any reason, without a penalty for doing it. If you'd rather move faster than the plan calls for, that's fine too. Early prepayment is encouraged, never penalized.

That cuts both ways on purpose. We'd rather you stay because the plan is working than because leaving costs you something.

Where we stand with the Better Business Bureau

We enjoy the top A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. That's the rating on record, and it's a fact you can check yourself before you decide to call.

Every penny, accounted for

Once a plan is running, you get a receipt from our office and a separate receipt from each creditor every month. That means you can see the payment land in both places rather than taking anyone's word for it.

According to the business, expertise is available in all 50 states, though the office you'd actually call is the one at 700 Lavaca Street in downtown Austin, and that's where a real person picks up the phone.

The questions people ask before they call

Everything above, answered again in shorter form. If you want the full breakdown of what's actually offered, start at every program we offer. For the mechanics of the formal plan, see the debt consolidation program.

No. There's no credit check to get started, and you don't need to own a home. The counselor works from what you already owe, not from a new application.

No. The program runs month to month, so you can leave it at any point. If you pay the balance off early there's no pre-payment fee for doing it.

About an hour, handled by phone and email. The paperwork is signed electronically, so nothing has to be posted or dropped off in person.

Credit card and other unsecured consumer debt through a debt management plan, plus separate help for student loan debt and IRS tax debt. Call the office to check whether a particular balance can be included.

Three things: financial education, help building a budget you can hold to, and a debt management plan if one fits. Not everyone who calls needs a plan.
